I went to visit Lizzy in New York at the beginning of December! I've never been to visit in December and I enjoyed actually getting to see the Rockefeller tree this time!
We went to see Waitress thursday night! I love Sara Bareilles and all her music, plus I really wanted to see Jessie Mueller! I had never seen the Waitress movie before so I wasn't prepared for the kind of strange story line... but i enjoyed the music and Jessie Mueller was amazing!
We walked the High Line friday because it was at least a little bit sunny. It was still cold and VERY windy. But it was fun! I've had it on my list of things to do for the last few trips. This photo of me above might be my favorite photo of me from the trip.
Saturday we got hot chocolates and walked around Central Park. I always love Central Park! We also went to see an advanced screening of La La Land with a Q&A after with the lyricists and producer! So that was fun!
Sunday morning we went and picked up cronuts from Dominique Ansel Bakery! I had heard about these for a while but I wasn't super interested in waiting in line outside for cronuts. So when I found out you could order them online two week in advance I was sold! So we ordered four cronuts (I know I don't know what I was thinking...) in the flavor of the month (your only option). The flavor for December was White Chocolate Peppermint with cherry filling. It was really really good! I have had cronuts before and this one was a bit different. I was a little unsure of the flavor but it actually was really good!
Sunday afternoon we stopped by the Annie Leibovitz Women photo exhibit. It was interesting because it was in an old building that started out as a YMCA for sailors and ended up being a women's prison (one of very few left in Manhattan). It was evacuated for Hurricane Sandy and now will be turned into a multi use building called The Women's Building. It will have space for non-profits, a cafe, a childcare center, etc. I'm so excited to go back and visit when its finished in a few years.
Bye New York!! It was swell as always!! Hopefully it won't be another year before I visit again!
