I spent a week and half back on Pensacola Beach in October and man was it great! You can see my previous guide for Pensacola and Gulf breeze here. But we tried a few new places this time that were awesome! We stayed at the Emerald Dolphin for the first portion of our trip and then we had a friend that had a free three night stay at Portofino that she couldn’t use, so she kindly gave it to us!
The Emerald Dolphin is down Ft. Pickens, very close to Peg Leg Pete’s which is a huge bonus in my opinion because we walked to dinner there a couple of times! It has a pool and hot tub and most condos have Gulf views. There is also a fitness room (not that I saw that). Plus you can walk directly across the street to the beach access.
After about a week there we moved to Portofino to a two bedroom condo there. It is a very high class resort, with four different towers of condos. There are multiple pools, a big on by the recreation center, plus hot tubs, and a pool and hot tub near each tower. There are two restaurants on site, plus a small shop. You can rent jet skis, canoes, kayaks, SUP, etc, etc. There is a blow up obstacle course style water park on the sound side that is included in some stays (you pay extra for it and the other rentals otherwise). We didn’t eat much food at the on site restaurant but we did eat dessert there one night and I had a killer turtle cheesecake!
On one of the days my mom and I drove down to Destin and Seaside to walk around. I always love browsing through the cute shops in Seaside. It was a little hot that day but it was still fun. We stopped and ate at The Crab Trap in Destin as well, another of my favorites for seafood!
We ate at the Native Cafe on this trip (twice) and I really enjoyed it! Of course I may be biased because they have peanut butter pancakes on the menu and I LOVE anything peanut butter. I highly recommend checking this place out! They do get busy on weekends, so be prepared to wait a bit. Or get there early. They serve breakfast every day until 11:30 am.
We walked around Palfox Street one of the days and there are tons of cute little boutiques down there as well as restaurants to try out! I have to say I was impressed, Pensacola is starting to get cute and hipster! We stopped in the Bodacious Brew to sit for a few minutes and it was super cute as well! We stopped by the farmer’s market on Saturday morning and it is growing as well!
We hit up Bagelheads (multiple times) of course! Although I don’t think I took any photos of it, but it continues to be a favorite! We also stopped by Joe Patti’s Seafood one day to get crab claws to sauté at home. And Joe Patti himself was calling numbers!! So crazy that not much has changed since going in there as a kid. Stop by Joe Patti’s if you want the local experience and pick up some fresh seafood to grill up yourself! We also picked up some Santino’s Pizza which continues to be my favorite!
